Introduction To My Final Essay

Youth Sports are on the rise in America! About one in three youth participate in contact sports. However, the other two thirds of the youth spend more time indoors tied up in sitting activities than in former years, but that creates an unhealthy lifestyle for the youth. Childhood obesity has risen since the former years where kids ride their bikes and play contact sports. It is important that America’s youth begin to form habits that will guarantee a healthy future. Schools that call for mandatory gym classes are in a place to help. Youth sports help children develop strength and endurance, learn cooperation and teamwork, and improve self-confidence. Critics claim that today’s youth risks outweigh the benefits because playing a contact can lead to concussions and other pains on your body. Supporters like myself of youth sports disagree.

Final Response

Student presentations were excellent in my opinion. I liked a lot of the visuals in the power-points. Everyone seemed to have great knowledge of what they wanted to do or where they were going on their presentations. However, some students did not have a very clear thesis on their presentation and our professor said you need to make sure our thesis were clear because that is what your defending or going against as known as your claim. Some students also didn't have clear central ideas and had to be told that you got have great central ideas because it is a five page paper were writing. My topic in my presentation was Youth Sports. In my presentation, I felt it was good, but I have to make sure my central ideas are clear, so I can even gather up the information to support my claim. In order to improve my presentation I will go back and make sure that my central ideas are clear and good enough to support my claim.

Why I am interested in youth sports?

I am interested in youth sports because sports is still one of my main hobbies as a freshman in college. I played when I was in middle school and a little in high school because I had back surgery and did not want to risk playing again. Youth sports make invaluable contributions to character development and future success of children by teaching them teamwork, discipline, self-control and triumph over adversity. These years also provide some of the most precious and long-lasting memories parents make with their children. Organized sports are a bulwark against the very real health risks associated with childhood obesity such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiac disease. These benefits are critical to the health and development of our youth and they serve to show the need for a more balanced approach to how we address the safety of our kids playing contact sports. Unfortunately, participation in youth football nationally and high school football in many regions of the country have subst

Critical Response

According to the Gerald Jones essay "Violent Media is Good for Kids", Violent media have positive effects on young people because it can help build their confidence and help conquer fears. Jones also believes it helps kids with emotional traps. Jones stated a lot of good examples. For example, He said his own son conquered his fear of climbing a tree at school after reading Tarzan comic books. On the contrary, He stated that violent media can also hurt kids as well as help them by promoting some kids to violence in real life. To sum up, Violent media can be good for a lot of kids, but for some kids promote kids to violence in real life. In Today's News, They talk about the mass killing in Florida that killed 17 people and the suspect Nikolas Cruz motives in the school shooting. I don't think the media covers this event unfairly. It states that Cruz is an orphaned 19 year old who's parents died and family friends took him in after his parent's death. He had be

Four Pillars of Argument

The Thesis statement of the essay “College Is a Waste of Time” by Dale Stephens is the sentence College is expensive in paragraph 4. The author supported his thesis with evidence in the same paragraph. The evidence he used in that same paragraph was stating that the College Board Policy Center found that the cost of college university tuition is about 3.6 times higher than it was 30 years ago. In Paragraph 5, the author stated that are alternatives to college and people shouldn’t depend on college and he is starting a social movement called “UnCollege”. The refutation the author used was stating that a major function of college is that it is a way potential employers that one is qualified to work; supporting that evidence like Employers are recruiting off social media and work sites. Finally, the concluding statement the author stated was “We who take our education outside and beyond the classroom understand how actions build a better world. We will change the world regardless of the l
